:Triisobutyl phosphate
Description:
Triisobutyl phosphate (TIBP) is an organic compound classified as a phosphate ester, with the chemical formula C12H27O4P. It is a colorless to pale yellow liquid that is soluble in organic solvents but has limited solubility in water. TIBP is known for its low volatility and high thermal stability, making it suitable for various industrial applications. It serves as a plasticizer, solvent, and extraction agent in processes such as metal recovery and the production of lubricants. Additionally, TIBP is utilized in the formulation of flame retardants and as a surfactant in certain formulations. The compound exhibits low toxicity, but like many phosphates, it can pose environmental concerns if released into water systems. Its properties, including viscosity and density, can vary depending on temperature and concentration. Overall, triisobutyl phosphate is valued for its versatility in chemical processes and formulations across multiple industries.

CAS:
Tri-isobutyl phosphate (TBP) is a chemical that is used as an additive in gasoline. It has been shown to inhibit apoptosis by blocking the mitochondrial pathway of apoptosis. TBP can be found in urine samples, and can be detected using surface methodology on live cells. TBP also has chemical stability in organic solvents such as hydrochloric acid and inorganic acids such as sulfuric acid. The hydroxyl group on the molecule makes it an excellent solid catalyst for a variety of reactions, including the oxidation of fatty acids by hydrogen peroxide. The ester linkages make it possible for TBP to be analyzed by gas chromatography with mass spectrometry. This compound is also used as a reagent for preparation of fatty acids for analytical methods such as GC-MS or GC-FID analysis.
Formula:C12H27O4PPurity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:Colorless PowderMolecular weight:266.31 g/molPhosphoric acid, tris(2-methylpropyl) ester
