:Pamoic acid
Description:
Pamoic acid, also known as embonic acid, is an organic compound characterized by its structure as a dicarboxylic acid. It features a naphthalene backbone with two carboxylic acid functional groups, which contributes to its acidic properties. The compound is typically a white to off-white crystalline powder and is sparingly soluble in water, but more soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and acetone. Pamoic acid is primarily used in the pharmaceutical industry, particularly as a component in the formulation of certain medications, including those for treating parasitic infections. Its ability to form salts and complexes with various drugs enhances their solubility and bioavailability. Additionally, pamoic acid has been studied for its potential applications in drug delivery systems and as a stabilizing agent in various formulations. Due to its chemical structure, it can also exhibit properties such as antimicrobial activity. As with many chemical substances, handling pamoic acid requires appropriate safety measures to mitigate any potential health risks.

CAS:
Pamoic acid is a natural compound that has been found to exhibit antimicrobial activity against a variety of microorganisms. Pamoic acid is also used in the treatment of infectious diseases, such as leprosy, tuberculosis, and AIDS. The biological properties of pamoic acid are due to its ability to bind with peptide hormones and act as a pharmacological agent. Pamoic acid is able to inhibit the synthesis of peptide hormones by binding to their receptors on the cell surface. This inhibition can lead to immunosuppression (e.g., autoimmune diseases) and mitochondrial membrane depolarization. Pamoic acid is also able to bind with benzalkonium chloride, which may account for some of its antimicrobial activity.
Pamoic acid is synthesized from pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) and caproic acid by means of an enzymatic process called transamination.
Formula:C23H16O6Purity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:Yellow PowderMolecular weight:388.37 g/molPamoic Acid pure, 98%
