:Simendan
Description:
Simendan is a pharmacological agent primarily used for its vasodilatory and inotropic effects, making it beneficial in the treatment of heart failure. It functions as a calcium sensitizer, enhancing the contractility of cardiac muscle without significantly increasing intracellular calcium levels, which helps to reduce the risk of calcium overload. Simendan also exhibits vasodilatory properties by activating potassium channels, leading to relaxation of vascular smooth muscle. This dual action helps improve cardiac output while reducing the workload on the heart. The substance is typically administered intravenously and has a relatively short half-life, necessitating careful monitoring during treatment. Its pharmacokinetics can be influenced by various factors, including patient-specific characteristics and concurrent medications. As with any medication, potential side effects may include hypotension, headache, and gastrointestinal disturbances. Overall, Simendan represents a valuable option in the management of acute heart failure, particularly in patients who may not respond adequately to traditional therapies.

CAS:
Simendan is a calcium sensitizer that increases the sensitivity of the heart to calcium ions. It also has natriuretic peptide-like activity and increases levels of atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) and B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP). Simendan is available as a racemic mixture of two stereoisomers, levosimendan and dextrosimendan. It is used in veterinary medicine to treat congestive heart failure in dogs. Levosimendan is metabolized by hydrolysis into the active form, which binds to cardiac troponin C and stimulates the phosphorylation of myosin light chains. This leads to an increase in contractility, efficiency, and rate of relaxation of cardiac muscle cells. Simendan also has been shown to have effects on ventricular function, myocardial performance, blood pressure levels, and drug interactions with other medications.
Formula:C14H12N6OPurity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:280.28 g/mol
