CAS 1318-74-7
:Kaolinite (Al2(OH)4(Si2O5))
Description:
Kaolinite is a clay mineral with the chemical formula Al2(OH)4(Si2O5), characterized by its layered structure and fine particle size. It is primarily composed of aluminum silicate and is a key component of kaolin, a type of clay used extensively in ceramics, paper, and various industrial applications. Kaolinite exhibits a white to off-white color and has a soft, earthy texture, making it easily workable. Its low plasticity and high viscosity when mixed with water are notable properties, which contribute to its utility in ceramics and as a filler in products like paint and rubber. Kaolinite is also chemically stable, with low solubility in water, and it can absorb moisture, which affects its physical properties. Additionally, it has a relatively low thermal conductivity and can withstand high temperatures, making it suitable for refractory applications. Its non-toxic nature and environmental compatibility further enhance its appeal in various industries, including cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.

Kaolinite
CAS:Controlled ProductKaolinite is a mineral consisting of aluminium silicate hydroxide that is found in soils and rocks. Kaolinite is a layered mineral with a hexagonal crystal system and has a high affinity for water and can be used as an adsorbent in wastewater treatment plants. The kaolinite particles are considered to be porous, allowing them to capture organic molecules such as polymyxin B. This is due to the hydrogen bonding interactions between the cations in the kaolinite layers and the hydroxyl groups on the surface of polymyxin B. The thermodynamic data for kaolinite shows that it exists as an amorphous solid at temperatures below its phase transition temperature (Tc). Above Tc, kaolinite undergoes a phase transition and converts into an ordered crystalline structure.Formula:Al2O3·2SiO2·2H2OPurity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:258.16 g/mol
