Benzyl 2-acetamido-2-deoxy-3,4,6-tri-O-acetyl-β-D-glucopyranoside is a synthetic nucleoside analog. It is an antiviral agent that inhibits the activity of reverse transcriptase and DNA polymerase. Benzyl 2-acetamido-2-deoxy--3,4,6--tri--O--acetyl--β--D--glucopyranoside has been shown to be active against hepatitis B virus and herpes simplex virus type 1. It also has been shown to inhibit the production of HIV in cell culture and is being investigated as a potential anti AIDS drug.
