    <p>Postaglandin B1 is a surfactant that has been shown to inhibit the production of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) in wild-type strains. This inhibition leads to a decrease in the levels of PGE2, which are involved in the pathogenic mechanism and cause hypersecretion of mucous.
