ACTINONIN

Description:
Actinonin, with the CAS number 13434-13-4, is a naturally occurring compound that is primarily known for its role as an antibiotic. It is derived from the bacterium *Streptomyces griseus* and exhibits notable antibacterial properties, particularly against certain strains of bacteria. Actinonin functions by inhibiting the enzyme aminopeptidase N, which is involved in protein metabolism, thereby disrupting bacterial growth and proliferation. The compound is characterized by its specific molecular structure, which includes a unique bicyclic framework that contributes to its biological activity. Actinonin has been studied for its potential therapeutic applications, particularly in treating infections caused by resistant bacterial strains. Additionally, it has been investigated for its effects on various biological systems, making it a subject of interest in medicinal chemistry and pharmacology. Its safety profile and efficacy in clinical settings continue to be areas of research, as scientists explore its potential uses in modern medicine.

  • Actinonin

    CAS:

Actinonin is a natural product with antimicrobial activity. It inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to their ribosomes and inhibiting protein synthesis. Actinonin has been shown to inhibit the growth of gram-positive species such as Streptococcus pyogenes, group A beta-hemolytic streptococci, and Enterococcus faecalis. Actinonin also inhibits a number of enzymes including target enzymes for antimicrobial agents such as penicillin and erythromycin. Actinonin has been shown to be a potential biomarker for bowel disease in humans by its ability to bind to mitochondria in cells from patients with inflammatory bowel disease. This compound binds to basic proteins, which are found in high concentrations in the cell nucleus of organisms including humans.
