CAS:Controlled ProductRCS-4 is a synthetic cannabinoid that is structurally similar to JWH-018, but with a different chemical structure. RCS-4 is designed to bind more selectively to the CB2 receptor and has a higher binding affinity than other synthetic cannabinoids. It has been shown that RCS-4 can produce dose-dependent effects in humans, such as increased heart rate, blood pressure, and psychotic symptoms. There have been reports of acute toxicity from RCS-4 use, including seizures, hallucinations, and coma. Chronic exposure to RCS-4 may lead to guanine nucleotide binding proteins (G proteins) in the brain being downregulated and decreased production of dopamine. This may result in impaired cognition and memory loss over time. The detection of RCS-4 in urine samples can be done by LC-MS/MS methods or by NMR spectroscopy.
