:ALLOPURINOL IMPURITY C
Description:
Allopurinol Impurity C, with the CAS number 1346604-13-4, is a chemical compound that is recognized as an impurity associated with the synthesis of allopurinol, a medication primarily used to treat gout and certain types of kidney stones. While specific characteristics such as its molecular formula, structure, and physical properties may not be widely documented, impurities like this are typically characterized by their potential effects on the efficacy and safety of the primary compound. Allopurinol Impurity C may exhibit similar chemical behavior to allopurinol, potentially influencing its pharmacological properties. Impurities are often assessed for their toxicity, stability, and interaction with other substances. In pharmaceutical contexts, the identification and quantification of impurities are crucial for ensuring the quality and safety of drug formulations. Regulatory agencies require stringent testing to limit the presence of such impurities to acceptable levels, thereby safeguarding patient health and maintaining therapeutic effectiveness.

CAS:
Allopurinol impurity C is a product of the reaction between allopurinol and n-butyl alcohol, which occurs in the presence of sodium hydroxide solution and dimethylformamide. The reaction condition is heated to reflux for 12 hours, after which the mixture is filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure. The resultant crude product is purified by column chromatography with ethyl acetate and then recrystallized from methanol. The synthesis scheme can be found in Figure 1.
Formula:C6H6N6OPurity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:Slightly Yellow PowderMolecular weight:178.15 g/mol
