RAC-3,5-Xylyl-Binap

Description:
RAC-3,5-Xylyl-Binap, with the CAS number 135139-00-3, is a chiral ligand commonly used in asymmetric synthesis and catalysis. It is derived from the binaphthyl framework, which is known for its ability to facilitate enantioselective reactions. The "RAC" prefix indicates that the compound is a racemic mixture, containing equal amounts of both enantiomers, which can influence its reactivity and selectivity in catalytic processes. The presence of the xylyl groups enhances the steric and electronic properties of the ligand, making it suitable for various metal-catalyzed reactions, including cross-coupling and hydrogenation. Its effectiveness in promoting enantioselectivity is attributed to the spatial arrangement of its substituents, which can create a chiral environment around the metal center. As with many organometallic compounds, handling requires caution due to potential toxicity and reactivity. Overall, RAC-3,5-Xylyl-Binap is a valuable tool in the field of synthetic organic chemistry, particularly in the development of chiral molecules.

  • (S)-(-)-XylBINAP

    CAS:

(S)-(-)-XylBINAP is a ligand that binds to primary amines and aldehydes. It has been shown to be an efficient catalyst for the asymmetric synthesis of β-unsaturated aldehydes. The conformational properties of (S)-(-)-XylBINAP are dependent on the type of secondary amine it is bound to, as well as the substituents on the nitrogen atom. This ligand can bind in two different ways, depending on the type of secondary amine it is bound to: 1) As an axial ligand with both nitrogens pointing up, or 2) As a pseudo-equatorial ligand with one nitrogen pointing up and one down. This difference in binding orientation leads to different steric interactions between (S)-(-)-XylBINAP and its substrate, which affects its ability to catalyze reactions.
