:Tetrasodium hexacyanoferrate
Description:
Tetrasodium hexacyanoferrate, commonly known as sodium ferrocyanide, is an inorganic compound with the formula Na4[Fe(CN)6]. It appears as a yellow crystalline solid and is highly soluble in water. This compound is notable for its use in various applications, including as a food additive (E535) and in the production of pigments, particularly in the manufacture of Prussian blue. Tetrasodium hexacyanoferrate is characterized by its coordination complex structure, where iron is coordinated to six cyanide ligands, forming a stable octahedral geometry. It is generally considered non-toxic, although it should be handled with care due to its cyanide content, which can be hazardous in certain conditions. The compound exhibits properties such as stability under normal conditions and the ability to form complexes with various metal ions, making it useful in analytical chemistry. Additionally, it can act as a reducing agent in certain chemical reactions. Overall, tetrasodium hexacyanoferrate is a versatile compound with significant industrial and analytical applications.

Sodium hexacyanoferrate (II)
CAS:Controlled ProductSodium hexacyanoferrate (II) is a salt of hexacyanoferrate (II) and sodium carbonate. It is used as an oxidizing agent in analytical chemistry, organic synthesis, and the production of ceramics. The compound has high resistance to enzyme activities and also exhibits high reactivity with nitrite ion. Sodium hexacyanoferrate (II) can be used to generate a reaction solution for the determination of ferrocyanide. This salt reacts with citric acid or sodium citrate to yield ferricyanide, which is then determined by measuring the amount of light absorbed at 510 nm. The mechanism for this reaction is believed to be the following: Sodium hexacyanoferrate (II) + 2NaOH → Na2[Fe(CN)6] + 2Na2CO3 Sodium hexacyanoferrate (II) + 3NaCl → Fe(CN)6 + Na3Cl +
