:(2-Propyn-1-yloxy)benzene
Description:
(2-Propyn-1-yloxy)benzene, also known as propargyl phenyl ether, is an organic compound characterized by its ether functional group, where a propargyl group is attached to a phenyl ring. This compound features a triple bond in the propargyl moiety, which contributes to its reactivity, particularly in alkyne-related reactions. It is typically a colorless to pale yellow liquid with a distinctive aromatic odor. The presence of the ether linkage imparts certain solubility properties, making it soluble in organic solvents while being less soluble in water. Its chemical structure allows for potential applications in organic synthesis, particularly in the formation of more complex molecules through reactions such as nucleophilic substitutions or coupling reactions. Additionally, due to the presence of the alkyne group, it may participate in cycloaddition reactions or serve as a precursor for various functionalized compounds. Safety precautions should be observed when handling this compound, as it may pose health risks if inhaled or ingested.

CAS:
Phenyl propargyl ether (PPE) is a reactive compound that has been used in the synthesis of luminescent probes. PPE reacts with ethyl formate to form an ester and an aldehyde, which can be used for the synthesis of biodiesel. PPE also undergoes nucleophilic attack by deuterium isotope to produce a deuterated product, which is useful in structural biology studies. The reaction mechanism of PPE is similar to that of other organic compounds containing carbon-nitrogen double bonds. NMR spectra show that PPE has a triplet ground state, which is indicative of its reactivity. The activation energies are relatively low, indicating that it is easy to break the covalent bond in the triplet state. This chemical reacts with azides and can be used as a chemical ligation agent for bioconjugation reactions.
Formula:C9H8OPurity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:132.16 g/mol
