CAS:5-Hydroxyethyl-4-methylthiazole (5HET) is a chemical that has been shown to inhibit the growth of some wild-type strains of bacteria. It has been found to bind to the bacterial cell membrane and prevent the transport of nutrients into the cell. This leads to a decrease in ATP synthesis and metabolic disorders. 5HET also inhibits caproic acid oxidation, which may be related to its cytosolic Ca2+ response. 5HET binds with high affinity to DNA and RNA, making it an excellent candidate for use in biochemical experiments involving these biomolecules. The binding site for 5HET is not yet known, but it is hypothesized that this compound interacts with nucleic acids by electrostatic interactions or hydrogen bonding.Formula:C6H9NOSPurity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:Clear LiquidMolecular weight:143.21 g/mol
