Tris-(2-maleimidoethyl)amine

Tris-(2-maleimidoethyl)amine is an organic compound that has a physiological function in the regulation of DNA duplexes. The reaction mechanism of Tris-(2-maleimidoethyl)amine is similar to that of other disulfide bonds. It reacts with two molecules of thiols to form a stable, covalent bond between the protein and the DNA. This reaction is used in clinical applications such as sample preparation, where it can be used to detect nucleic acid sequences. The Tris-(2-maleimidoethyl)amine can also be used for detecting infectious diseases by using a plate test.
