:4,5-Dihydro-5-oxo-2-pyrazinecarboxamide
Description:
4,5-Dihydro-5-oxo-2-pyrazinecarboxamide, with the CAS number 13924-96-4, is a heterocyclic organic compound characterized by its pyrazine ring structure, which is a six-membered ring containing two nitrogen atoms. This compound features a carboxamide functional group, contributing to its polar nature and potential solubility in polar solvents. The presence of the keto group (5-oxo) and the dihydro configuration indicates that it has a saturated bond in the ring, which can influence its reactivity and stability. Typically, compounds like this may exhibit biological activity, making them of interest in pharmaceutical research. The molecular structure suggests potential interactions with biological targets, and its derivatives could be explored for various applications, including medicinal chemistry. As with many heterocycles, the compound's properties, such as melting point, boiling point, and reactivity, can vary significantly based on the specific substituents and conditions under which it is studied.

CAS:
5-Hydroxypyrazine-2-carboxamide is a prodrug of pyrazinamide, an anti-tuberculosis drug. It is metabolized to pyrazinoic acid in the liver and excreted in the urine. The concentration of 5-hydroxypyrazine-2-carboxamide in the blood plasma is very low and no significant accumulation has been observed. In experiments with rats, 5-hydroxypyrazine-2-carboxamide was shown to be well tolerated and did not produce any adverse effects at doses up to 500 mg/kg orally. It also effectively inhibited bacterial growth in vitro and showed good activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium avium complex.
5-Hydroxypyrazine-2-carboxamide is used for the treatment of tuberculosis in pediatric patients who cannot tolerate other antitubercular drugs or who have failed to respond satisfactorily to other
Formula:C5H5N3O2Purity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:PowderMolecular weight:139.11 g/mol5-HYDROXYPYRAZINE-2-CARBOXAMIDE
