4-Amino-7-(2-C-methyl-beta-D-ribofuranosyl)-7H-pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidine-5-carbonitrile

Description:
4-Amino-7-(2-C-methyl-beta-D-ribofuranosyl)-7H-pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidine-5-carbonitrile, with the CAS number 141232-24-8, is a chemical compound that belongs to the class of nucleoside analogs. This substance features a pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidine core structure, which is characterized by a fused pyrrole and pyrimidine ring system. The presence of an amino group at the 4-position and a carbonitrile group at the 5-position contributes to its chemical reactivity and potential biological activity. The 2-C-methyl-beta-D-ribofuranosyl moiety indicates that it is a modified ribonucleoside, which may influence its interaction with biological targets, such as enzymes or nucleic acids. This compound is of interest in medicinal chemistry and pharmacology, particularly for its potential antiviral or anticancer properties. Its solubility, stability, and bioavailability would depend on the specific functional groups and structural features, making it a candidate for further research in drug development.

  • 4-Amino-7-(2-C-methyl-b-D-ribofuranosyl)-7H-pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidine-5-carbonitrile

    CAS:

4-Amino-7-(2-C-methyl-b-D-ribofuranosyl)-7H-pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidine-5-carbonitrile (PMPC) is a novel antiviral agent. It is highly active against HIV and has shown to be effective against herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV1) and HSV type 2 (HSV2). PMPC inhibits the synthesis of viral DNA by phosphorylating a monophosphate residue on the ribonucleoside triphosphate substrate. This prevents the enzyme from adding another phosphate group to the nucleotide sequence, which prevents further DNA synthesis. PMPC also has anticancer properties due to its ability to inhibit cell proliferation by preventing the formation of deoxyribonucleosides and diphosphates.
