FR 139317 also inhibits the growth of pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells in vitro and reduces endothelin-1 levels in a rat model of primary pulmonary hypertension. This drug also leads to an increase in natriuretic peptide levels and disease activity, as well as decreased blood pressure in rats with renal failure.</p>
