:4-Diethylamino-Piperidine
Description:
4-Diethylamino-piperidine is an organic compound characterized by its piperidine ring, which is a six-membered saturated nitrogen-containing heterocycle. The presence of two diethylamino groups at the 4-position of the piperidine ring contributes to its basicity and potential as a nucleophile. This compound is typically a colorless to pale yellow liquid with a distinctive amine-like odor. It is soluble in organic solvents and exhibits moderate solubility in water due to the presence of the basic amine groups. 4-Diethylamino-piperidine is often used in organic synthesis and as an intermediate in the production of various pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. Its reactivity can be attributed to the nitrogen atoms, which can participate in various chemical reactions, including alkylation and acylation. Safety precautions are necessary when handling this compound, as it may pose health risks, including irritation to the skin and respiratory system. Proper storage and handling in a well-ventilated area are recommended to minimize exposure.

CAS:
4-Diethylamino-piperidine (DEAP) is a potential antiviral drug that inhibits the replication of hepatitis C virus by targeting the NS5B polymerase. It has been shown to be a competitive inhibitor of the polymerase at micromolar concentrations, and it binds to a site on the enzyme not shared with nucleoside or nucleotide analogs. This binding prevents the formation of the ternary complex required for RNA synthesis, which results in inhibition of viral production. DEAP also inhibits replication of other RNA viruses such as influenza A virus. The crystal structure and pharmacokinetics of DEAP have been determined, and this drug appears to be safe and well tolerated in animals, although it has not yet been tested in humans.
Formula:C9H20N2Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:156.27 g/mol
