:sodium abietate
Description:
Sodium abietate, with the CAS number 14351-66-7, is a sodium salt derived from abietic acid, which is a natural resin acid found in pine tree resins. This compound typically appears as a white to light yellow powder or solid and is soluble in water, making it useful in various applications. Sodium abietate exhibits surfactant properties, which allows it to function effectively as an emulsifier and stabilizer in formulations. It is commonly used in the production of soaps, cosmetics, and personal care products due to its ability to enhance texture and improve the stability of emulsions. Additionally, sodium abietate can act as a dispersing agent in paints and coatings, contributing to improved performance and application characteristics. Its natural origin and biodegradable nature make it an attractive option in environmentally friendly formulations. However, as with any chemical substance, safety data should be reviewed to ensure proper handling and usage in accordance with regulatory guidelines.

CAS:Controlled Product
Sodium abietate is a sodium salt of abietic acid, a glycol ether. It is used as an additive in the production of polymers and plastics to improve their stability and air-entraining properties. Sodium abietate also has antifungal activity against endoparasites such as erythrocytes and helminths, and can be used as a chemical preservative or disinfectant. The particle size of sodium abietate is small enough to be used in water treatment systems at high concentrations, where it reacts with hydrochloric acid to form salt crystals. These crystals then react with potassium dichromate to produce chlorine gas, which kills bacteria.
Formula:C20H29NaO2Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:324.44 g/mol
