It has been used as an activator, coactivator and/or stabilizer for the thermal treatment of inorganic acids to produce imidazolines and halogens. 2-{[2-({2-[(2-Hydroxyethyl)sulfanyl]ethyl}sulfanyl)ethyl]sulfanyl}ethan-1-ol has been shown to be effective in the production of polymeric materials with good stability and low volatility.
