tert-Butyl 5-((4-ethyl-5-formyl-3-methyl-1H-pyrrol-2-yl)methyl)-3,4-dimethyl-1H-pyrrole-2-- carboxylate (BEMPC) is a potent and selective activator of the ion channel TRPV6. It has been shown to activate TRPV6 in a concentration dependent manner and at concentrations of 10 μM or lower, BEMPC activates TRPV6 with an EC50 of approximately 1 μM. This compound is also an inhibitor of protein synthesis in cells.
