Propanenitrile, 2-(a-D-glucopyranosyloxy)-2-methyl-

Description:
Propanenitrile, 2-(α-D-glucopyranosyloxy)-2-methyl-, also known by its CAS number 14605-42-6, is a chemical compound characterized by its unique structure that combines a propanenitrile moiety with a glucopyranosyl group. This compound features a nitrile functional group (-C≡N) attached to a propyl chain, which is further substituted with a glucopyranosyl ether. The presence of the glucopyranosyl unit suggests that this compound may exhibit properties typical of carbohydrates, such as solubility in water and potential biological activity. It is likely to be a white to off-white solid at room temperature, with moderate stability under standard conditions. The compound may participate in various chemical reactions, including hydrolysis and substitution, due to the reactivity of the nitrile group. Its potential applications could span fields such as pharmaceuticals, biochemistry, and materials science, particularly in the development of glycosylated compounds or as intermediates in organic synthesis. However, specific safety and handling guidelines should be consulted, as with any chemical substance.

    CAS:

Isolinamarin is a natural product and chemical compound that has been found in leaves of the plant Passiflora edulis. Isolinamarin is synthesized by β-glucosidase from isolinol, an alicyclic alcohol. The synthetic route to isolinamarin starts with acetobromoglucose and proceeds through a series of steps that involve the formation of an acetal group, conversion to an aldehyde, oxidation to a carboxylic acid, and finally conversion to the desired product. Isolinamarin inhibits β-glucosidase by binding at the active site and preventing further substrate hydrolysis. It blocks glucose uptake into cells by inhibiting glucose transporters on cell membranes, as well as inhibiting glycolysis in humans.
