Lactoferricin B

Description:
Lactoferricin B is a peptide derived from lactoferrin, a glycoprotein found in various secretory fluids, including milk. It is known for its antimicrobial properties, exhibiting activity against a wide range of bacteria, fungi, and viruses. The structure of Lactoferricin B consists of a sequence of amino acids that contribute to its ability to disrupt microbial membranes, leading to cell lysis. This peptide is also recognized for its immunomodulatory effects, enhancing the immune response and potentially playing a role in inflammation regulation. Additionally, Lactoferricin B has been studied for its potential applications in food preservation and as a therapeutic agent in treating infections. Its stability under various pH conditions and resistance to proteolytic enzymes further enhance its utility in both clinical and food industry settings. Overall, Lactoferricin B represents a significant area of interest in biochemistry and pharmacology due to its multifunctional properties and potential health benefits.

  • Lactoferrin

    CAS:

Lactoferrin is a multifunctional glycoprotein, which is primarily sourced from bovine milk, human milk, and other mammalian secretions. With its high affinity for iron, lactoferrin sequesters iron ions, which inhibits bacterial growth by depriving them of the iron necessary for proliferation. This mechanism enables lactoferrin to exhibit potent antimicrobial properties.

  • Lactoferricin B25

    CAS:

Lactoferricin B25 is a potent anticancer agent that has shown significant activity in vitro against cancer cell lines. It has been shown to induce apoptosis and autophagy, which are both methods of inducing cell death. Lactoferricin B25 also induces caspase-mediated apoptosis and has been shown to be effective in the treatment of cancer cells in vivo. Lactoferricin B25 binds with high affinity to the cell membrane, which is thought to be responsible for its anticancer activity. The half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) for this compound is about 2 μM, with a concomitant cytotoxic effect at 10 μM. Lactoferricin B25 binds to DNA polymerase, preventing DNA replication and transcription. The binding of lactoferricin B25 to DNA polymerase inhibits the synthesis of RNA from DNA templates by inhibiting the elongation step of transcription.
