CAS 14783-59-6
:Mercury dithizonate
Description:
Mercury dithizonate, with the CAS number 14783-59-6, is a coordination compound formed from mercury and dithizone, a chelating agent. This substance typically appears as a colored solid, often exhibiting shades of red or orange due to the presence of the dithizone ligand. It is known for its ability to form stable complexes with mercury ions, making it useful in analytical chemistry, particularly in the detection and quantification of mercury in various samples. The compound is relatively soluble in organic solvents but has limited solubility in water. Mercury dithizonate is sensitive to light and can decompose upon exposure, which necessitates careful handling and storage in dark conditions. Due to the toxicity of mercury, safety precautions are essential when working with this compound, including the use of personal protective equipment and proper waste disposal methods. Its applications extend to environmental monitoring and research, where it serves as a reagent in various chemical analyses.

Mercury(II) bis(dithizonate)
CAS:Controlled Product
Mercury(II) bis(dithizonate) is an isomeric form of mercury that exhibits photochromism. It has a yellow color in the solid state and can reversibly change to a red color when exposed to light. Mercury(II) bis(dithizonate) is soluble in organic solvents and forms bright yellow crystals with a melting point of 81-82 °C. It has been used as an optical dye for microscopy, where it absorbs ultraviolet radiation and emits visible light. This property makes it useful for detection of bacteria or other microorganisms by optical microscopy or fluorescence microscopy. The solvents acetonitrile, diethylether, or acetone can be used to dissolve this compound. Mercury(II) bis(dithizonate) is metastable which means that it will decompose spontaneously into mercury(I) oxide and hydrogen gas if heated to 180 °C.
Formula:C26H22HgN8S2Purity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:Dark Red SolidMolecular weight:711.23 g/molRef: 3D-FM25107
