:cholesteryl hydrocinnamate
Description:
Cholesteryl hydrocinnamate is an ester derived from cholesterol and hydrocinnamic acid. It is characterized by its hydrophobic nature due to the presence of the cholesterol moiety, which contributes to its lipid-soluble properties. This compound typically appears as a white to off-white solid and is known for its role in various biochemical and pharmaceutical applications, particularly in the formulation of drug delivery systems and as a potential additive in cosmetic products. Cholesteryl hydrocinnamate exhibits a melting point that is influenced by its crystalline structure and purity. Its solubility is generally limited in water but can dissolve in organic solvents, reflecting its amphiphilic characteristics. The compound may also demonstrate biological activity, including potential antioxidant properties, making it of interest in research related to cellular health and aging. As with many cholesterol derivatives, it is important to handle cholesteryl hydrocinnamate with care, considering its potential effects on biological systems and its role in lipid metabolism.

Cholesterol Hydrocinnamate
CAS:Controlled Product
Cholesterol hydrocinnamate is a non-polar, microcapsule-encapsulated solid that has been shown to be reversibly endothermic. The transition from the solid phase to the liquid phase occurs at approximately 20°C and is accompanied by a change in color from red to yellow. The coating on the surface of the microcapsules are composed of polymers with optical properties such as high refractive index, low absorption, and low scattering. These properties are used to alter light transmission and reflection in order to evaluate the particle size distribution. Cholesterol hydrocinnamate can be prepared by thermal treatment of cholesterol cinnamate with cinnamaldehyde in solvents such as ethanol or acetone. This method produces particles that are not only non-polar but also soluble in nonpolar solvents such as hexane or heptane.
Purity:Min. 95%
