CAS 1492-18-8
:Calcium folinate
Description:
Calcium folinate, also known as leucovorin or citrovorum factor, is a calcium salt of folinic acid, which is a derivative of folic acid. It is commonly used in medical applications, particularly as a medication to reduce the toxic effects of certain chemotherapy agents, such as methotrexate, by providing a source of reduced folate. This compound is characterized by its white to pale yellow crystalline appearance and is soluble in water, making it suitable for intravenous or oral administration. Calcium folinate plays a crucial role in cellular metabolism, particularly in the synthesis of nucleic acids and amino acids, which are essential for cell division and growth. Its mechanism of action involves the conversion to active forms of folate, which can bypass the metabolic block caused by antifolate drugs. Additionally, it is utilized in the treatment of megaloblastic anemia and as a supportive therapy in various cancer treatments. Safety and efficacy profiles are well-established, but it should be used under medical supervision due to potential interactions with other medications.

Folinic Acid Calcium Salt
CAS:Stability Hygroscopic
Applications Folinic Acid Calcium Salt is a derivative of Folic Acid (F680300), a vitamin needed to synthesize DNA, conduct DNA repair and methylate DNA, it also acts as a cofactor in biological reactions involving folate. Has been shown to be partially effective in the treatment children suffering from autism spectrum disorders (ASDs).

CAS:Leucovorin is a folate analog drug that is used to treat the toxic effects of methotrexate and other antagonists of folate. It works by counteracting the toxic effects of methrotrexate by inhibiting the enzyme dihydrofolate reductase. It is used to increase the levels of folic acid and by strengthening the link between the active metabolite (5-FdUMP) and the enzyme thymidylate synthetase, leucovorin increases the action of fluorouracil. Additionally, in order to increase survival in patients undergoing palliative treatment for colorectal cancer, it is used in conjunction with 5-fluorouracil.Formula:C20H23N7O7·CaPurity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:PowderMolecular weight:513.52 g/mol5-Formyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydrofolic acid calcium salt
