Sapacitabine is an oral prodrug that is converted to its active form, the cytotoxic agent 9-β-D-arabinofuranosyladenine (araA), by cellular enzymes. Sapacitabine targets intracellular targets, including DNA methyltransferases and other enzymes involved in the synthesis of RNA and DNA.
