:2-(4-Chlorophenyl)ethylamine
Description:
2-(4-Chlorophenyl)ethylamine, also known as para-chloroamphetamine, is an organic compound characterized by its amine functional group attached to a two-carbon ethyl chain, which is further substituted with a para-chlorophenyl group. This compound typically appears as a white to off-white crystalline solid and is soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and chloroform, but has limited solubility in water. It is known for its psychoactive properties and has been studied for its potential effects on the central nervous system, particularly as a stimulant. The presence of the chlorine atom on the phenyl ring influences its biological activity and pharmacological profile. As with many amines, it can participate in various chemical reactions, including alkylation and acylation. Due to its structural similarities to other amphetamines, it may exhibit similar mechanisms of action, affecting neurotransmitter systems in the brain. Safety and handling precautions are essential, as it may pose health risks if improperly managed.

CAS:Controlled Product
2-(4-Chlorophenyl)ethylamine (CPA) is a synthetic serotonergic amine that has inhibitory activities. It is able to bind with the 5-HT receptor, which is also known as the serotonin receptor. CPA has been shown to be an anticancer compound and can be used in experimental solubility studies. This drug binds to brain cells, but does not affect their viability. CPA hydrolyzes in the presence of hydrochloric acid or hydrogen chloride to produce 2-(4-chlorophenyl)ethanol (CPE). The reaction of CPA with serotonin produces 4-chloroamphetamine (PCA), which is a stimulant drug.
Formula:C8H10ClNPurity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:155.62 g/mol
