CAS:Controlled ProductUlipristal acetate is a progesterone receptor modulator that prevents ovulation. It is used for the treatment of uterine fibroids and as an emergency contraceptive. This drug binds to the progesterone receptor, which leads to an inhibition of estrogen-dependent processes, such as endometrial proliferation and ovarian follicular development. Ulipristal acetate has been shown to be effective in premenopausal women with a body mass index (BMI) greater than or equal to 30 kg/m2. This drug also has a short half-life and is rapidly metabolized by glucuronidation in the liver. The concentration–time curve for ulipristal acetate is linear over the therapeutic dose range.
