2H-Pyrido[1,2-a]pyrimidin-2-one is an acetylcholine antagonist that binds to nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. It has potent antitumor activity and inhibits the growth of lepidoptera larvae. 2H-Pyrido[1,2-a]pyrimidin-2-one also has antibacterial properties. It is a synthetic compound that has been shown to inhibit gram negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. 2H-Pyrido[1,2-a]pyrimidin-2-one also inhibits the growth of insect larvae by binding nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in the insect's nervous system. This leads to paralysis and death.
