    <p>Ethyl 5-(piperazin-1-yl)benzofuran-2-carboxylate is a potent inhibitor of the bacterial enzyme DNA gyrase. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in cell cultures. Ethyl 5-(piperazin-1-yl)benzofuran-2-carboxylate binds to the active site of bacterial DNA gyrase and inhibits its activity, thereby inhibiting bacterial DNA replication and transcription.
