CAS 1660-95-3
:Tetraisopropyl methylenediphosphonate
Description:
Tetraisopropyl methylenediphosphonate, with the CAS number 1660-95-3, is an organophosphorus compound characterized by its structure, which includes two phosphonate groups linked by a methylene bridge. This compound is typically a colorless to pale yellow liquid and is known for its high stability and low volatility. It is soluble in organic solvents, making it useful in various chemical applications, including as a reagent in organic synthesis and as a potential flame retardant. The presence of isopropyl groups contributes to its steric hindrance, which can influence its reactivity and interactions with other substances. Additionally, tetraisopropyl methylenediphosphonate exhibits properties that may be beneficial in agricultural chemistry, particularly in the development of herbicides or pesticides. However, like many organophosphorus compounds, it should be handled with care due to potential toxicity and environmental concerns. Proper safety measures and regulations should be observed when working with this substance in laboratory or industrial settings.

CAS:
Tetraisopropyl methylenediphosphonate is a colorant that is used in the manufacture of dyes, paints and other products. It is also used as a reagent to synthesize new compounds with nitrogen-containing groups. Tetraisopropyl methylenediphosphonate is formed by the reaction of hydrochloric acid with a diazonium salt, such as nitrobenzene. This compound can be oxidized to form tetraisopropyl methylenediphosphonic acid (TIMP) in the presence of chloride. TIMP has been shown to have effects on bone resorption and heart disease. The mechanism of action for this compound is not yet fully known, but it may inhibit the growth factor involved in bone resorption or affect cardiac cells.
Formula:C13H30O6P2Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:344.32 g/mol
