:D-Ornithine, hydrochloride (1:1)
Description:
D-Ornithine hydrochloride is a crystalline compound that serves as a salt form of the amino acid D-ornithine, which is a non-proteinogenic amino acid involved in the urea cycle. This substance is typically white to off-white in appearance and is soluble in water, making it suitable for various biochemical applications. D-Ornithine plays a crucial role in the synthesis of polyamines, which are important for cell growth and differentiation. The hydrochloride form enhances its stability and solubility, facilitating its use in laboratory and clinical settings. It is often utilized in research related to metabolism, cellular function, and as a potential supplement in sports nutrition. Additionally, D-ornithine is studied for its potential therapeutic effects, including its role in wound healing and its implications in certain metabolic disorders. As with any chemical substance, proper handling and safety precautions should be observed, particularly in laboratory environments.

CAS:
D-Ornithine hydrochloride is a synthetic amino acid that is used as a precursor for the synthesis of polyamines in the body. It is also used as an additive in food and animal feed. This amino acid has been shown to inhibit gramicidin production by inhibiting the enzyme acylase. D-Ornithine hydrochloride has also been shown to stimulate the production of ornithine by increasing ATP levels and activating enzymes such as pyruvate kinase, glutamic pyruvate transaminase, and phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase. In addition, it has been shown to have chemoenzymatic properties that allow for its use in reactions with fatty acids as substrates. The reaction yield increases with higher substrate concentrations, which can be achieved using immobilized cells or by adding cyclic peptides such as ornithine to the reaction mixture.
Formula:C5H12N2O2•HClPurity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:PowderMolecular weight:168.62 g/molH-D-Orn.HCl
