CAS:Desmethyl sibutramine is a metabolite of the drug sibutramine. It has been shown to have effects on body weight, locomotor activity, and energy metabolism in animal models. Animal studies have shown that Desmethyl sibutramine increases dopamine release in the brain, which may contribute to its weight-loss properties. The metabolite also has anti-inflammatory properties that may be related to its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis. These effects are similar to those of other drugs used for the treatment of autoimmune diseases, metabolic disorders, infectious diseases, coronary heart disease and diabetic neuropathy.
