CAS:Hopantenate calcium is a calcium salt that has been used in experimental models as a pharmacological agent. It is most commonly administered orally to treat bowel disease, but can also be given intravenously or intraperitoneally. Hopantenate calcium inhibits the activity of various enzymes and biological properties, such as locomotor activity and energy metabolism. This drug also has synergistic effects with other drugs, such as pantothenic acid and trifluoroacetic acid. It is not known to have any adverse side effects when administered at therapeutic doses.
