CAS:<p>Etiroxate is a fatty acid that inhibits the activity of cholesterol acyltransferase (CAT) and 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase (HMGCR) in the liver. It is used as an antileukemic agent, mainly in patients with acute myelogenous leukemia. Etiroxate has been shown to be effective against psychiatric disorders, such as schizophrenia and depression, in double-blind cross-over studies on animals. Etiroxate also has a beneficial effect on cardiac function and hyperlipoproteinemia in humans.
