CAS 1746-13-0
:Allyl phenyl ether
Description:
Allyl phenyl ether, with the CAS number 1746-13-0, is an organic compound characterized by its ether functional group, where an allyl group is attached to a phenyl ring. It has a molecular formula of C10H10O, indicating it consists of ten carbon atoms, ten hydrogen atoms, and one oxygen atom. This compound typically appears as a colorless to pale yellow liquid with a pleasant aromatic odor. Allyl phenyl ether is known for its reactivity, particularly in polymerization processes, where it can participate in various chemical reactions due to the presence of the allyl group. It is also used as a chemical intermediate in the synthesis of other organic compounds and may exhibit properties such as low solubility in water but good solubility in organic solvents. Safety considerations include handling it in well-ventilated areas and using appropriate personal protective equipment, as it may pose health risks upon exposure. Overall, allyl phenyl ether is a versatile compound in organic chemistry and industrial applications.

CAS:
Allyl phenyl ether is a phenyl ether that inhibits the enzyme enoyl-acyl carrier protein reductase (ENR), which is involved in fatty acid synthesis. It can be used as an antimicrobial agent and has been shown to inhibit the growth of several bacteria. Allyl phenyl ether also inhibits the oxidation of dimethyl fumarate, an antioxidant that is used for treatment of multiple sclerosis. A kinetic study on allyl phenyl ether has shown that it binds to the active site of ENR by hydrogen bonding with nitrogen atoms and hydroxide groups. This binding causes a rotation around the double bond, leading to its inhibition by trapping the acyl group in a transition state intermediate.
Formula:C9H10OPurity:Min. 98 Area-%Color and Shape:Colorless Clear LiquidMolecular weight:134.18 g/mol(Allyloxy)benzene
