CAS:Di-n-octyl phenylphosphonate acts as a plasticizer, which is useful in ion-selective electrodes. This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand. CAS:Dioctyl phenylphosphonate (DPP) is an organic compound that is used as a polymerization initiator. It has been shown to be genotoxic and, at high concentrations, may cause tubulointerstitial injury in the kidneys. DPP is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme phosphatase-1 (PP1). This inhibition leads to increased levels of intracellular calcium and epidermal growth factor (EGF), which can be detected using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. DPP also has a high detection sensitivity, which allows for its use as an analytical method for PP1 activity.
