:Ethyl β-D-glucuronide
Description:
Ethyl β-D-glucuronide (EtG) is a metabolite of ethanol, formed through the conjugation of ethanol with glucuronic acid. It is a colorless, water-soluble compound that is often used as a biomarker for alcohol consumption due to its presence in urine and other biological fluids after ethanol intake. EtG is characterized by its stability, which allows it to be detected for a longer period compared to ethanol itself, making it a useful tool in alcohol testing. The compound is non-volatile and has a relatively low molecular weight. Its synthesis involves the enzymatic action of UDP-glucuronosyltransferases, which facilitate the transfer of glucuronic acid to various substrates, including ethanol. Ethyl β-D-glucuronide is also of interest in pharmacology and toxicology, as it can provide insights into alcohol metabolism and its effects on the body. Due to its specific formation from ethanol, it serves as a reliable indicator of recent alcohol consumption, aiding in both clinical and forensic investigations.

CAS:
Ethyl β-D-glucuronide (EBG) is a metabolite of ethanol that is formed by the conjugation of glucuronic acid to ethanol in the liver. EBG has been shown to be a potential biomarker for alcohol consumption, as it can be detected in urine and blood. The presence of this molecule has also been associated with an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. EBG may also have pharmacological effects as it has been shown to inhibit lipid oxidation and increase insulin sensitivity. This molecule can be extracted from human serum using solid phase microextraction
Formula:C8H14O7Purity:Min. 98 Area-%Color and Shape:Slightly Brown PowderMolecular weight:222.19 g/molD3-Ethyl β-D-glucuronide
CAS:
D3-Ethyl β-D-glucuronide is a metabolite of ethanol. Detection of this compound may be used to diagnose alcohol consumption during pregnancy. The detection time is approximately 5 hours after a single drink. D3-Ethyl β-D-glucuronide can be reliably detected in maternal blood using solid phase microextraction and LC-MS/MS methods. The body mass index (BMI) can be used to determine the risk for alcohol consumption during pregnancy, with higher BMIs indicating an increased risk. Logistic regression models were created to estimate the probability of D3-Ethyl β-D glucuronide being present in maternal blood and the probability of alcohol consumption during pregnancy given a positive result. These models were then used to create diagnostic tools that are sensitive enough for clinical use.
Formula:C8H11D3O7Purity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:White Off-White PowderMolecular weight:225.21 g/mol
