:Clorgyline hydrochloride
Description:
Clorgyline hydrochloride is a selective irreversible inhibitor of monoamine oxidase A (MAO-A), primarily used in research and clinical settings for its antidepressant properties. It is a white to off-white crystalline powder that is soluble in water and exhibits a moderate molecular weight. The compound acts by inhibiting the breakdown of neurotransmitters such as serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine, thereby increasing their availability in the synaptic cleft, which can enhance mood and alleviate symptoms of depression. Clorgyline hydrochloride has a specific affinity for MAO-A over MAO-B, making it a valuable tool in studying the role of monoamines in neurobiology. Its pharmacological profile includes potential side effects typical of MAO inhibitors, such as hypertensive crises when combined with tyramine-rich foods. Due to its irreversible nature, the effects of clorgyline can persist even after the drug is cleared from the system, necessitating careful monitoring during treatment. As with all medications, it is essential to use clorgyline hydrochloride under appropriate medical supervision.

CAS:
Clorgyline hydrochloride is a monoamine neurotransmitter inhibitor that blocks the enzyme monoamine oxidase (MAO). It is used to treat Parkinson's disease and depression. Clorgyline hydrochloride also has been shown to decrease locomotor activity in rats and cause neuronal death in the hippocampal formation. This drug has been shown to inhibit the enzyme activities of MAO-A, MAO-B and tyrosine hydroxylase at chronic doses. In addition, clorgyline hydrochloride increases the number of 5-HT2 receptors on rat brain membranes. The inhibition of MAO-A by clorgyline hydrochloride results in irreversible inhibition of all three types of MAO enzymes. Clorgyline hydrochloride also inhibits protein synthesis by decreasing levels of tyrosine hydroxylase, an enzyme that is necessary for the production of dopamine and norepinephrine.
Formula:C13H15Cl2NO·HClPurity:Min. 98 Area-%Color and Shape:White Off-White PowderMolecular weight:308.63 g/molN-(3-(2,4-Dichlorophenoxy)propyl)-N-methylprop-2-yn-1-amine hydrochloride
