CAS:Controlled ProductOleanonic acid is a natural product that belongs to the group of compounds called dehydrocostus lactones. It has been shown to induce apoptosis in leukemia cells, with an IC 50 of 0.1 μM. Oleanonic acid also inhibits cancer cell growth in vitro and induces apoptosis in human serum-derived K562 cells. It activates caspase-3 and caspase-8, leading to the cleavage of PARP and DNA fragmentation. Oleanonic acid also has anti-inflammatory properties, inhibiting PGE2 production by blocking cyclooxygenase activity. The mechanism of action for these effects is not yet known but may be due to its ability to inhibit mitochondrial functions.br>br>
