CAS:Controlled ProductBorussertib is a molecule that inhibits the transcriptional regulator aurora kinase A. It has been shown to be an effective anticancer drug in animal models and in human cancer cells in vitro. Borussertib inhibits cell growth by binding to the tumor suppressor protein p53, which prevents it from initiating apoptosis. Borussertib also causes cell lysis by inhibiting the production of RNA and proteins, leading to cell death. Borussertib has been shown to inhibit metastatic colorectal cancer, cervical cancer, and cancer cell viability in vitro. The mechanism of action may be due to inhibition of aurora kinase A-mediated phosphorylation of p53 or inhibition of aurora kinase A-mediated phosphorylation of retinoblastoma protein (pRb).
