2-(4-Bromo-2,5-dimethoxyphenyl)acetic acid
CAS:
2-(4-Bromo-2,5-dimethoxyphenyl)acetic acid (BODMAP) is a metabolite that is found in urine. It is analyzed to diagnose urinary tract infections and to investigate the role of gut microflora in metabolism. BODMAP can be detected in urine samples after deamination by human enzymes. The benzyl group of BODMAP can be removed by diethylether, forming 2-(4-methoxybenzyl)acetic acid which can then be oxidized to 2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)acetic acid. The presence of aldehyde dehydrogenase in humans allows for the conversion of 2-(4-bromo-2,5-dimethoxyphenyl)acetic acid to 2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)acetic acid. This process may take place in the liver or kidneys as well as other tissues.
BODMAP
Formula:C10H11BrO4Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:275.1 g/mol
