:(4-Hydroxyphenoxy)acetic acid
Description:
(4-Hydroxyphenoxy)acetic acid, with the CAS number 1878-84-8, is an organic compound characterized by its phenolic and carboxylic acid functional groups. It features a hydroxy group (-OH) attached to a phenyl ring, which is further substituted by an acetic acid moiety. This compound is typically a white to off-white solid at room temperature and is soluble in polar solvents such as water and alcohols due to its ability to form hydrogen bonds. It exhibits properties that make it useful in various applications, including as a plant growth regulator and in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals. The presence of the hydroxy group contributes to its antioxidant properties, while the carboxylic acid group can participate in acid-base reactions. Additionally, (4-Hydroxyphenoxy)acetic acid may exhibit biological activity, influencing plant physiology and potentially serving as a precursor in organic synthesis. Its stability and reactivity can vary depending on environmental conditions, such as pH and temperature.

CAS:
4-Hydroxyphenoxyacetic acid (4-HPAA) is an organic acid that contains a hydroxyl group and a carboxylic acid. It is the precursor of the amino acid L-dopa, which is used in the treatment of Parkinson's disease. 4-HPAA has been shown to have tumorigenic effects in mice and also induces cell proliferation in cultured human cells. The molecular modeling study revealed that 4-HPAA binds to the growth factor receptor protein on the cell surface and activates signal transduction pathways. This leads to increased expression of basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF). These results suggest that 4-HPAA may be involved in the process of angiogenesis, which is necessary for tumor growth.
Formula:C8H8O4Purity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:PowderMolecular weight:168.15 g/mol2-(4-Hydroxyphenoxy)acetic Acid
