:3-Methyl-1,5-naphthyridine
Description:
3-Methyl-1,5-naphthyridine is a heterocyclic organic compound characterized by a fused bicyclic structure that includes a pyridine ring. It features a methyl group attached to the 3-position of the naphthyridine framework, which contributes to its chemical properties. This compound is typically a pale yellow to brown solid and is known for its aromaticity, which enhances its stability and reactivity. 3-Methyl-1,5-naphthyridine is soluble in organic solvents, such as ethanol and dichloromethane, but has limited solubility in water due to its hydrophobic nature. It is of interest in various fields, including medicinal chemistry, where it may serve as a building block for the synthesis of biologically active compounds. The presence of the nitrogen atom in the ring structure can influence its electronic properties and potential interactions with biological targets. Additionally, it may exhibit fluorescence, making it useful in certain analytical applications. As with many organic compounds, safety precautions should be taken when handling it, as it may pose health risks if ingested or inhaled.

3-Methyl-1,5-naphthyridine
CAS:
3-Methyl-1,5-naphthyridine is a 5-hydroxytryptamine (5HT) receptor antagonist that was synthesized and tested for the first time in humans. The pharmacokinetic properties of 3-methyl-1,5-naphthyridine were studied in humans and it was shown that the drug has a short half life of about 1.8 hours after oral administration. It also showed antibacterial efficacy against Escherichia coli and Enterococcus faecalis when tested in vitro. In addition, 3-methyl-1,5-naphthyridine has been shown to inhibit the activity of 5HT2A receptors by binding to them competitively. The molecular modeling studies suggest that 3-methyl-1,5-naphthyridine binds to the microsomal proteins on the surface of bacteria cells with its furyl group. This binding inhibits enzymes such as cholinesterase inhibitors and thus prevents
Formula:C9H8N2Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:144.17 g/mol
