It also has an important role in the synthesis of 8-hydroxyquinoline. The hydroxy derivative is used as a reagent for the stereoselective synthesis of heterocycles and trifluoromethylthiolation.<br>4-Ethylquinoline can be synthesized from butyraldehyde and 1,2-dichloroethane. This reaction proceeds with high stereocontrol, giving 4-ethylquinoline in high yield.<br>4-Ethylquinoline is stable to heat and acid, making it useful for many chemical reactions.
