2-Chlorohexadecanoic acid is a fatty acid that is found in the brain, where it regulates neuronal function. It also plays a role in energy metabolism and has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. 2-Chlorohexadecanoic acid is converted to 2-chlorohexadecadienoic acid (2-CDA) by cytochrome P450, which is then converted to 2-chlorohexadienoic acid (2-CD) by peroxidase. This reaction produces reactive oxygen species (ROS), which are toxic to cells and can lead to oxidative stress and inflammatory diseases. 2-Chlorohexadecanoic acid may be useful as an adjuvant therapy for treatment of these diseases.
