CAS 192-97-2
:benzo[e]pyrene
Description:
Benzo[e]pyrene is a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) characterized by its fused benzene rings, specifically consisting of five aromatic rings. It is a colorless to pale yellow solid at room temperature and is known for its high stability and hydrophobic nature, making it poorly soluble in water but soluble in organic solvents. Benzo[e]pyrene is primarily formed during the incomplete combustion of organic materials, such as fossil fuels and tobacco, and is commonly found in environmental pollutants. This compound is of significant concern due to its potential carcinogenic properties, as it can form DNA adducts that may lead to mutations and cancer. Its presence is often monitored in air, soil, and food products due to its toxicological implications. Additionally, benzo[e]pyrene is used in research to study the mechanisms of carcinogenesis and the effects of PAHs on human health and the environment. Proper handling and disposal are essential to mitigate its risks, given its classification as a hazardous substance.

Benzo[e]pyrene
CAS:Benzo[e]pyrene is a potent inducer of cytochrome P450 activity and mitochondrial membrane potential. It has been shown to induce the expression of melatonin in rat liver microsomes. Benzo[e]pyrene can also inhibit melatonin-induced cell death in fetal bovine retinal cells. This chemical has been shown to be carcinogenic to rodent lung tissue and squamous carcinoma cells in mice, as well as bacterial strains. The carcinogenic effects are due to its ability to bind to DNA, which leads to the production of mutagenic products that result in DNA damage. The fluorescence detector is used for monitoring the reaction mechanism and kinetic energy of benzo[e]pyrene with mouse tumor cells.Formula:C20H12Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:252.31 g/mol
