Sulfo-Cy 3 carboxylic acid is a synthetic fluorescent dye that emits green light and has a fluorescence quantum yield of 0.7. It is prepared via the reaction of benzindole with 4-sulfonyl chloride in the presence of triethylamine and recrystallization from ethyl acetate.
