    2-Amino-4-chloropyridine is a pyridine that is used in analytical chemistry for the detection and measurement of calcium ions. It has been shown to be a good indicator of the overload of calcium ions in cells, which is associated with many diseases such as diabetic neuropathy and microbial infection. 2-Amino-4-chloropyridine can also be used as a reagent in titration calorimetry experiments to measure the heat released or absorbed during chemical reactions. The synthesis method for this compound is not well known, but it has been reported to be synthesized using malonic acid and cytosolic calcium. This compound also reacts with monoclonal antibodies to produce oligosaccharides with picolinic acid, which are resistant mutants against 2-amino-4-chloropyridine.
